Family Sharing
Share lists with family through iCloud. Family Sharing is a Premium feature.
On this page
Nabble uses iCloud to share your lists with family. There are no Nabble accounts to create and no passwords to share.
What you need
- You and your family member must both be signed in to iCloud on your iPhones.
- Nabble must be installed on their iPhone before they accept an invitation.
If you are not signed in to iCloud, the Family Members screen shows “Please sign into iCloud in Settings to use family sharing.”
Invite someone
- Go to Settings → Family Members.
- Tap Invite Family Member.
- Nabble opens Apple’s sharing sheet. Choose how to send the invitation.
- Your family member taps the link to accept. Their device then syncs your shared lists.
Accept an invitation
- Tap the invitation link in Messages, Mail, or wherever it was sent.
- When iOS asks, tap Open to open it in Nabble.
- Tap Accept when Nabble asks to accept the share.
- Your lists appear within a minute or two.
If the link opens a web page instead of Nabble, make sure Nabble is installed, long-press the link and choose Open in Nabble, or ask the sender to send a fresh link from Settings → Family Members → Invite Family Member.
Roles
The person who invited everyone is the Owner. There is exactly one Owner.
| Role | View lists | Add items | Shop | Lists & stores | Members |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Owner | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Co-Owner | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Shopper | Yes | No | Yes | No | No |
| Viewer | Yes | No | No | No | No |
- Owner: invite and remove members, stop sharing, and everything a Co-Owner can do.
- Co-Owner: add, edit, and delete items; create and delete lists; start and finish trips.
- Shopper: start and finish trips, check items off, and mark items Not Available.
- Viewer: can see shared lists and items.
To change someone’s role, go to Settings → Family Members and tap the role next to their name. Members show “Invitation pending” until they accept, then “Accepted”.
Private lists
A list marked Private is visible only to you, even after family members accept.
Remove someone, or leave
The Owner can remove people. Go to Settings → Family Members → Invite Family Member to open the sharing sheet, then tap the person’s name and choose Remove Access. A member who wants to leave uses the same sheet: tap your own name → Remove Me.
Notifications

Go to Settings → Notifications to choose which family-activity notifications you get. These apply to shared lists. Notifications are delivered through iCloud.
On by default: List updated while I’m shopping alerts you when the list changes during your trip.
Optional (off by default):
- New list created
- Item added
- Item changed
- Item deleted
- Someone starts shopping
- Someone finishes shopping
Location reminders are separate. To be reminded when you are near a store with items on your list, set a location and turn on Notify when nearby (see Stores and Locations).
The first time you open Nabble, iOS asks whether to allow notifications. If you said no, allow them in the iOS Settings app under Notifications → Nabble.
