Stores and Locations

Add stores, get reminders when you’re nearby, and sort your lists in aisle order.

Stores let you keep a separate list for each place you shop, get reminders when you are nearby, and sort items in the order you walk the aisles.

Add a store

  1. Go to Settings → Stores and tap +.
  2. Start typing the store name. Nabble suggests well-known stores and online retailers. Tap a suggestion to fill in the name and store type, or type your own name.
  3. Choose a Type if you typed a custom name (Grocery, Home Improvement, Electronics & Media, and so on). The type helps Nabble set up sensible categories.
  4. Tap Add. Nabble asks “Would you like to add a shopping list for [store]?” Tap Add List or Not Now.

Choosing a suggestion fills in the store type automatically (Walmart becomes General Merchandise). Suggestions with a globe icon are online stores.

Set a store location and turn on reminders

Store locations are available on the free plan.

  1. Go to Settings → Stores and tap the store.
  2. Under Location Notifications, tap Set (or Change if a location is already saved).
  3. Search for the store by name and city or neighborhood. ZIP codes are not supported.
  4. Tap a result to see it on a map with a circle showing the 500-meter (about 1,640-foot) notification radius.
  5. Tap Confirm to save. If the pin is wrong, tap Search Again.
  6. Turn on Notify when nearby.

The first time you turn this on, iOS asks for location access. Choose Allow While Using App. Nabble uses iOS’s built-in geofencing, so you do not need to choose “Always”.

  • Limit: Nabble can remind you about up to 5 stores at a time. To turn on a sixth, turn off notifications for another store first.
  • Change or remove a location: tap Change, or tap Remove Location (in red). Removing a location also turns off notifications for that store.
  • Pause reminders without losing the location: turn off Notify when nearby.
  • If location access was denied: the Location Notifications section shows a warning. Open the iOS Settings app, go to Privacy & Security → Location Services → Nabble, and allow location access while using the app.
  • Privacy: Nabble uses your location only to notice when you arrive near a store. Your location is never stored or shared.

Customize the category order

  1. Go to Settings → Stores and tap the store.
  2. Tap Edit at the top right. The Category Order section now shows a checkbox and a drag handle on each category.
  3. Drag categories into the order you walk the store.
  4. Untick categories the store doesn’t carry. They move to Not Carried at This Store. Tick them again to bring them back.
  5. Tap the check mark at the top right to finish.

Lists linked to the store use the new order right away.

Rename, change the type of, or delete a store

  • Rename or change the type: Settings → Stores → tap the store. The name and Type are under Store Details at the top; tap either to change it.
  • Reorder stores: in Settings → Stores, tap Edit and drag the handle (three lines) on the right of the store.
  • Delete: Settings → Stores → tap Edit, tap the red minus next to the store, then tap Delete. (You can also swipe the store to the left.) Lists linked to that store are not deleted. They simply become unlinked. Tap the check mark to leave Edit mode.
